Community Involvement of our Law Firm
Making a difference in our Communities
When Ed was in high school his dream was to be a missionary. After six years of seminary training, he found his calling as a trial attorney representing individual. Ed's family likes to joke that he has led three lives — (1) Seminary, (2) Teacher and (3) Lawyer — in descending order!
As a trial attorney, Ed has been proven to be a great advocate for safety and justice. But he has never forgotten where he came from and the obligation of where he lives and works. Ed supports non-profit organizations through donations, leadership, volunteerism and pro bono legal services. He has also worked tirelessly to protect the civil justice system and the safety of consumers. Here are some of the organizations he is currently supporting. You are encouraged to visit these organizations to learn about their programs and services. Together we can make a difference in the neighborhoods in which we live.
EL SOL
EL SOL is a non-profit organization established to provide an organized and supervised alternative to the daily gatherings of day laborers that previously solicited work on Jupiter's streets. The Center is a collaborative effort of the Town of Jupiter, Corn Maya, a long-established migrant outreach agency, and Friends of EL SOL, a community volunteer group. Ed is currently a member of their Board of Directors serving at Vice President and is on their Fundraising Committee.

Georgetown University Law Center – Justice Agenda
Georgetown University Law Center initiated the Justice Agenda. The program’s mission is to provide funded internships to law students working in the legal areas of public service/public interest, and protection of consumer rights. Each year, Ed provides the funding for student internships.
Hope Rural
Hope Rural School is a non-profit private Catholic elementary school in Indiantown, Florida, whose mission is to educate immigrant children of farm and migrant workers. Ed and his wife provided an initial gift to Hope Rural School in 1980. That gift helped found the school. Ed served 28 years as a member of the Board of Directors and he currently serves as volunteer counsel.
For more than two decades, the students at Hope Rural have provided the artwork for Ed’s law firm‘s Thanksgiving card. Each year, one student's artwork is chosen for the cards. Also, in appreciation for their creative efforts, Ricci treats the students every year to a special Thanksgiving “pizza” luncheon and an honorary visit by Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito - Bishop of the Diocese of Palm Beach.
KidSanctuary Campus, Inc.
KidSanctuary Campus, Inc. is an organization in Palm Beach dedicated to helping abused or neglected children and their siblings who desperately need help. Many of these children have emotional or physical disabilities that make their placement difficult. They face bleak futures with little comfort or care on the horizon, a childhood bereft of the happiness most of us take for granted. Ed Ricci is currently a volunteer fundraiser and a Board Member.
Palm Beach Dramaworks
Palm Beach Dramaworks is a professional not-for-profit theatre company that engages and entertains audiences with provocative and timeless productions that personally impact each individual. Ed is a major donor and a member of the advisory council.
Shriners of Palm Beach County
The Shriners Hospitals are staffed and equipped to treat children with acute burns; children needing plastic reconstructive or restorative surgery as a result of healed burns; children with severe scarring, resulting in contractures or interference with proper movement of the limbs; and patients with scarring and deformity of the face. Shriners Hospital understands that medicine may heal the child's body, but tending to the child's sense of well-being is equally important in their recovery. Some of the special programs that have been developed to address this need are the Re-entry Program, Make-up Clinics, and Camp Ability.
Every year, attorney Ed purchases more than 200 tickets to the Spring Shriners Circus at 3650 RCA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Over 200 local underprivileged school children are given the tickets to this great event. This tradition started after a young client of Ricci's was severely burned over 70% of her body in an automobile accident. When she was struggling to survive and within hours of losing her life, with limited finances, limited family assistance, and lack of local hospital expertise in severe burn victims, the Shiners took action. They flew the young client to Shriners pioneer hospital in Cincinnati, which handles severely burned children and their treatment. Through the Shriners Hospital's expertise and the client's strength this story has a happy ending. We have never met an organization so dedicated or a survivor so courageous, thankful and appreciative of life. They are both inspirations.
Lupo Ricci Charitable Trust
Ed and his wife, are co-directors of a charitable trust that they founded in 1991. It is based on the premise of “helping your brethren”, and has supported many causes through the years, including but not limited to:
- The Public Citizen Foundation – A 501c(3) in Washington, D.C. that researches and publishes information on consumer rights, corporate scandals, and government wrongdoing. For the past decade, the Lupo Ricci trust has provided 50% of the funding for the foundation's research in automotive safety.
- St. Dismas Society – A program that sends clergy into prisons to visit inmates and offer religious counsel or service.
- Construction of houses, community centers and schools in Haiti, Bangladesh, and India.
- Mothers Against Brain Injury Inc. – a non-profit organization that assists families whose loved ones have suffered at Traumatic Brain Injury. The Lupo Ricci trust donates to MABII's "Totes of Comfort & Hope" program.
