Attorney Edward M. Ricci Elected President of EL SOL

March 1, 2011

WEST PALM BEACH, FL - West Palm Beach Attorney, Edward M. Ricci, has been elected President of EL SOL, Jupiter’s Neighborhood Resource Center’s Board of Directors. Ricci has been on the Board of Directors since 2008, and has served as Vice-President since 2009.

“EL SOL is about helping all Jupiter residents,” stated Edward Ricci. "An immediate goal is to fill a void by the recent exit of non-profit Carelink, a free medical clinic that treats about 3000 patients a year. We are working with town officials and Jupiter Medical Center for options," added Ricci.

Established in 2006, EL SOL, a 501(c)3, provides an organized and supervised alternative to the daily gatherings of day laborers that previously solicited work along several Jupiter Streets. The Center is a collaborative effort of the Town of Jupiter, Corn Maya, a long-established migrant outreach agency, and Friends of EL SOL, a community volunteer group.

EL SOL is 100% funded through private charitable donations. The Center has 3 full-time employees, 120 volunteers, has more than 4000 registered employers and more than 1900 registered workers.

In addition to operating a day labor referral center, EL SOL provides daily breakfast and lunches, provides educational and occupational training, language and literacy instruction, computer classes, counseling, health education, legal and other services to individuals in need.
