Attorney Edward M. Ricci Appointed Vice-President of EL SOL

WEST PALM BEACH, FL - West Palm Beach Attorney, Edward M. Ricci, has been appointed to a two-year term as Vice-President of EL SOL, Jupiter’s Neighborhood Resource Center’s Board of Directors.
Established in 2006, EL SOL, a 501(c)3, provides an organized and supervised alternative to the daily gatherings of day laborers that previously solicited work along several Jupiter Streets. The Center is a collaborative effort of the Town of Jupiter, Corn Maya, a long-established migrant outreach agency, and Friends of EL SOL, a community volunteer group.
“EL SOL is a great example of a community working together to resolve issues and provide opportunity and hope,” stated Edward Ricci.
EL SOL has more than 1300 registered workers and assists approximately 137 workers a day. Last year, El Sol filled over 8700 job requests from local employers seeking workers for landscaping, moving, housekeeping, yard work, cleaning, and construction work.
In addition to operating a day labor referral center, EL SOL provides daily breakfast and lunches, provides educational and occupational training, language and literacy instruction, counseling, health education, legal and other services to individuals in need.
Ricci added, “EL SOL is 100% funded through private charitable donations. Our very active volunteers regularly donate two hours a week. In 2008, our volunteers gave more than 19,000 hours valued at $343,000.”
